GKS က အချိန်ပိုင်းလုပ်လို့မရဘူးဆို​တော့ ရတဲ့ stipend က​လောက်ရဲ့လား???

​ကိုယ်သုံးတဲ့အ​ပေါ်မူတညိတယ်​ပြော​ကြ​ပေမယ့် သုံးတဲ့ပုံစံကို admin တစ်ချက်ရှင်းပြပါမယ်

ဒါ socialize လုပ်ရတာကြိုက်တဲ့ admin ရဲ့ တစ်​နေ့တာ အသုံးစရိတ်ပါ။

မနက်​စော​စောမနိုး​တော့ ​နေ့လည်​လောက်မှထပြီး အ​ဆောင်မှာထမင်းစားပါတယ် အ​ဆောင်ထမင်းက 5000 ပါ

Admin ​က ​ကျောင်းမှာနားချိန်ဆိုဗိုက်ဆာတတ်လို့ Convenience store လိုမျိုးမှာ ​ပေါင်မုန့်ဖ့စ်ဖြစ်ဝယိသွားတတ်ပါတယ် တစ်ထုပ် 1800ပါ ဒီ​နေ့စားတဲ့​ပေါင်မုန့်က ( Coupangလိုမျိုးက​နေ ပါကင်လိုက်မှာထားရင် ၁ ​သောင်း​ခွဲလောက်​ပေးပြီး ၁၂ ထုပ် ၁၃ ထုပ်​လောက်ရပါတယ်)

အ​အေးဆိုင်ထိုင်ပြီး အတန်းချိိန်အသွား စာသင်ခန်းထဲမငိုက်​အောင်​ ​ကော်ဖီဝယ်သွားပါတယ် ​ကော်ဖီက 1600 ပါ

အတန်းတက်ပြီး​ည​နေ​ကျ​​တော့ ​ကျောင်းကန်တင်းမှာပဲထမင်းစားပါတယ် 5000 ပါ ( အပြင်မှာစားရင် 8000 က​​နေ 10000 အ​ကျော်အထိရှိပါတယ်)

ထမင်းစားပြီး​တော့ Department က စီနီယာတစ်​ယောက်နဲ့အတူ အပြင်မှာ က​ဖေးထိုင်ပြီး ​မေဂျာအ​ကြောင်း​မေးတာ၊ ​ကျောင်းအ​ကြောင်း​ဆွေး​နွေးတာလုပ်ပါတယ် က​ဖေးက ​ကော်ဖီက 5700 ပါ

ဒီဟာ​တွေအကုန်​ပေါင်းလိုက်ရင် admin ရဲ့ တစ်​နေ့အသုံးစရိတ်က ​သေချာ​ချွေတာရင်​တောင် စားတာနဲ့တင် ၂ ​သောင်းအထက်မှာရှိပါတယ် 25000 ထားပါ

How can you buy affordable items in Korea?
Among all the preparation processes to come to Korea, the most difficult part is organizing documents.
But another lesser-known issue is the challenge of managing finances.

If you don’t carefully budget your daily expenses after arriving in Korea, you might end up spending more than necessary and not be able to save for emergencies.

So, based on a post Admin had previously shared on their personal page about daily expenses, here’s an updated version with some cost-saving tips.

Since GKS students are not allowed to work part-time, is the stipend enough?
It depends on your spending habits, but here’s how Admin spends in a typical day (Admin enjoys socializing):

  • Doesn’t wake up early and eats lunch at the dormitory cafeteria.
    → Dormitory meal cost: 5,000 KRW

  • During break time at university, Admin tends to get hungry and buys pastries at the convenience store.
    → Pastry: 1,800 KRW
    (Tip: If you buy in bulk from Coupang and pack them, you can get about 12–13 pastries for around 15,000 KRW.)

  • Then Admin studies at a café with friends to prepare for a group presentation.
    → Iced drink at café: 1,800 KRW

  • Before class, Admin buys coffee to avoid dozing off.
    → Coffee: 1,600 KRW

  • After classes, Admin eats dinner at the school cafeteria.
    → Dinner: 5,000 KRW
    (Eating outside can cost between 8,000 to over 10,000 KRW.)

  • After dinner, Admin goes to a café with a senior student to talk about the major and university life.
    → Coffee at the café: 5,700 KRW

If you add all of this up, even with careful budgeting, Admin spends over 20,000 KRW a day—around 25,000 KRW per day.
So monthly expenses come to approximately 750,000 KRW.

Other unavoidable expenses include:

  • Dormitory fee: ~250,000 KRW (discounted for GKS students)

  • If living in a one-room apartment, rent ranges from 400,000 to 700,000 KRW/month

  • Laundry detergent, toiletries: ~100,000 KRW/month

  • Transportation: Over 100,000 KRW/month
    (Admin’s dorm is far from campus, so a bus is needed.)

  • On weekends, going out also adds to costs

Even with a budget-conscious lifestyle, the monthly total can easily exceed 1.2 million KRW.

Cost-saving tips:

  • Try to get a dormitory with a kitchen so you can cook your own meals (this can cut food expenses in half)

  • Choose a dorm near the university to save on transport

  • Alternatively, get a "Climate Card" for 55,000 KRW/month for unlimited public transport

  • Buy and stock snacks like bread from Coupang to avoid buying pricey items outside

**If you follow all these money-saving tips carefully, you can survive on about 1 million KRW/month.
This is a rough estimate of Admin’s monthly living expenses.

Special Tip:
If you want to buy things like furniture or appliances, use “Danggeun Market” (Korean second-hand market app).
Some people even give away things for free when they’re moving!

For example, Admin bought a table, fan, refrigerator, and microwave all from Danggeun Market.
