Internship period : February 14th, 2023 to July 14th, 2023

Hi, my name is Sandra and I'm a third year International Creative Business student from the Netherlands. I've always been interested in working abroad. So, when I got the opportunity to do so for my internship, I was really excited.

I love hanging out with friends, dancing, and trying new things. I like to be creative and wanted to be able to incoporate that into my work.

When I found Acopia, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to work in a different country and experience different cultures. I'm looking forward to working hard and gaining new experiences!

Experience feedback

During my internship at Acopia I did a lot of different things and worked with a lot of different people. My internship started off by translating a few webpages to Dutch (and English) and making Instagram posts. This was the work I was doing in the first few weeks. After some time Savannah and I decided to make the Instagram feed look a little more cohesive, since there was not a clear/specific branding at the time. We tried to play around with colour schemes and wanted to see what would look the best. In the beginning I also helped sometimes with bringing the trainees to dance classes and auditions. We also started to sometimes film the trainees dance and vocal lessons as well as dance covers.

At one point boss wanted us to start doing personal projects as well as a musical as group project. The personal project I chose to do was making a report on ‘Life in Korea as a foreigner’, and I worked on this for the remainder of my internship. The musical project was a bit of a challenge because no one had done a musical before. We practiced two times a week with the actors and our musical instructor. At this time I also helped film a music video with Hina and Mimi (previous trainees) and edited the music video afterwards. I had a lot of fun filming the music video with the girls.

After this I focused on creating a branding book together with Savannah. This would help the social media platforms to look more cohesive and more professional/intentional.

The last thing that I mainly worked on was rebranding the YouTube channel. I helped come up with video ideas and what we wanted the YouTube channel to be. I focused mainly on filming and editing content for the YouTube Channel.

Looking back at my internship I think the company had a lot of things they needed to improve on in the beginning. In the beginning it was unclear what work we should be doing, we didn’t get a lot of guidance, and the communication overall was a little bit rough at times. However, this got a lot better over time. We got clear assignments, a good structure, specific teams to work on different things, and a more positive work environment.

Overall there were ups and downs throughout my internship, but in the end I improved my skills, got to know a lot of great people and made amazing memories.
