Nattaya Schönbein

Internship period : March 7th, 2023 to June 9th, 2023

Hey there, my name is Nattaya and I'm from Germany.

I study Sociology as my major and Korean Studies as my minor in Frankfurt. I've always been interested in learning about other cultures and languages. This internship does come in handy, to connect my studies with my interests.

I hope I can learn a lot about the relationship between Japan and Korea, from a sociological point of view.

FINAL REPORT

During my internship at Acopia I worked towards several projects. Especially at the beginning of my internship I wrote several articles about different topics, such as „Beauty standards in Korea in comparison to Germany“, „Cultural differences between Korea and Germany“, „Foods you should try in Korea“ and also series of articles, with at least two parts each. Those series included: „Things you should avoid doing in Korea“ and „Your travel itinerary for Seoul“. I also did a street interview in Hongdae, in which I asked korean people what they think and know about Germany. Following this interview I wrote an article („What is Germany known for in South Korea“) and published it on Acopias Naver Blog.

At a certain point Boss also proposed the idea of personal projects and a musical as a team  project.

For my personal project I chose to research the relationship between South Korea and Germany, since it seemed quite fitting with both my major Sociology and my minor Korean studies. In that research I mostly focused on the history and economic relationship between the two countries and the opinion and knowledge from korean citizens about Germany.

The team project – the musical, was the first of its kind made by Acopia. My role for it was filming. Since I had already made some experiences filming for Acopia – I filmed the trainees during performances before and also filmed the trainees/actors for the „For the future“ music video – It was a fairly easy task for me to do, even though it was difficult finding a proper position to film, since the lamps in the location were always in frame. I figured it out after all, but the video did not turn out perfect due to this.
